Alkkianvuori hill

Alkkianvuori hill is the highest place in Karvia, rising 201 metres above sea level – albeit that the highest point is situated on Parkano’s side of the municipal border. The surface area of the entire natural site is approximately 600 hectares. The site has high geological and landscape value. There is a 4 kilometres partly demanding nature trail. There is also a kota hut, where you can stop and roast a sausage on an open fire.

LOCATION

Alkkianvuori hill is located west of the Parkano-Vaasa road (motorway 3). The distance to Karvia is approximately 22 kilometres.

By car

  • To find Alkkianvuori hill, drive approximately 20 kilometres from Parkano in the direction of Vaasa on motorway 3. Turn left towards Karvia. Drive 7.4 kilometres after the crossroads and take a left on Alkkianvuorentie road. You will see a nature trail sign (Luontopolku) where the road forks. Drive 1.3 kilometres until you find the signposts and the kota hut at the starting point of the trail.

By public transport

  • Motorway 3 offers many bus connections from Parkano to Vaasa. Check the timetables on Matkahuolto’s website. The distance from the main road to the starting point of the trail is around 9 kilometres.

Trail starting points

  • The official starting point of the nature trail is on Alkkianvuorentie road. The trail can also be accessed from the southern part of the area. You can continue along Alkkianvuorentie road past Lake Alkkianlampi to the southern starting point of the trail.
