Cultural Centre Skantz

Up here in Willi Karvia, volunteer work is in our blood. We have spent no less than 10,000 hours of hard work putting up a log-built stage and seats for 400 persons in the village of Kantti.

Cultural Centre Skantz is an event venue designed for multiple uses, where the stands alone are a sight to admire – not to mention the performances seen on stage.

The stands are well-suited for summer theatre performances, concerts, trainings and conferences alike. The only thing limiting the use of the centre is imagination. The centre was inspired by the Kyrö-Skanssi fortress, which was located nearby in the 1630s.

The impressive entrance is adorned with magnificent details, such as a drawbridge and the ticket office tower. The old village school of Kantti, now known as Leiritupa, serves visitors right next to the stands of the cultural centre. Summer café serves customers during the summertime. Restaurant Skantzin Krouvi provides visitors with refreshments during events.

Leiritupa also displays an exhibition on the history of Kyrö Skantz.

Cultural Centre Skantz is part of the Arts Route of Karvia. Read more about the Arts Route here.
